About SC Montessori
It is our vision to create an environment where children can be creative, engaged, lifelong learners. Our kindergarten style classroom is home-like with lots of natural light. Our classroom provides opportunities for children to feel fulfilled and develop in a balanced way, making for a rich long day care learning environment.
A Montessori classroom is child centred, where each individual is encouraged to learn by doing, feeling free to engage in learning experiences within the safety of the prepared kinder environment. Respect for self and others develops as each child works within the classroom using grace and courtesy as a means of relating with their teachers, peers and environment. Each child is given the opportunity to extend their knowledge as they are challenged by the Montessori equipment and teaching materials made available to them in the childcare environment.
We offer long day care hours with an integrated Kinder program at both our Leopold and Torquay Centres.

Our Values
Southern Cross Montessori was established to:
1. Provide a high-quality educational kindergarten experience which is independent, coeducational, and non-denominational. To offer preschool education to children from 3 – 6 years using the principles of Dr Maria Montessori in our Leopold and Torquay Long Day Care and Kindergarten programs

Southern Cross Montessori proudly serves the community with air Leopold centre, designed to provide a nurturing and enriching environment for your child’s development. At what age can my child start Montessori education?
Our program caters to children from the ages of 3 yrs. to 6 yrs.
How do Montessori classrooms differ from regular classrooms?
Our Montessori centres focus on self-directed learning with mixed-age groups and specially designed materials, encouraging children to learn at their own pace.
What are the Centre opening and closing times?
8am till 6pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). The Centre is open for 50 weeks of the year, closing 2 weeks over Christmas/New Years.
Can I book a tour?
Yes, parents and guardians are welcome to book a tour to explore the Montessori environment firsthand.
