Welcome to Southern Cross Montessori

A Montessori classroom is child centred, where each individual is encouraged to learn by doing, feeling free to engage in learning experiences within the safety of the prepared environment. Respect for self and others develops as each child works within the classroom using grace and courtesy as a means of relating with their teachers , peers and environment. Each individual is given the opportunity to extend their knowledge as they are challenged by the Montessori equipment and teaching materials made available to them.

A child who has become master of his acts through long, pleasant and interesting activities in which he has engaged, is a child filled with health and joy and remarkable for his calmness and discipline. ” Maria Montessori

Southern Cross Montessori Preschool opened its doors in April 2014 and continued the program that has been running in Torquay since 1999. Our current program is a 3-5 sessional program, offering 15 hours for 4yr olds and 9 hours for 3yr olds.
